The playlist tag!!!

Hello again,
yes I've procrastinated blogging yet again (I may or may not be doing this just to avoid history homework but shh) however, I do have what I think is a pretty good thing to make up for it. I'M GOING TO try TO START A TAG! Yeah!

I don't think that this has been done before, and I thought it was an interesting idea so here you go…

There aren't really many music-related tags in the blogging world- I don't know about any except from the actual 'music tag'. I think this is because normally there's not much room for creativity. The playlist tag solves this problem by being whatever you want it to be.

The idea is that anyone tagged has to come up with a playlist of 5-10 songs, it can be themed, it could just be songs you like. Then, you illustrate the playlist- by that I mean you write out the song and artist name any way/ in any media you want to, then you decorate around it!

If you don't understand, just take a look at what I've done below:

As you can see you really don't have to stick to one genre of music / one theme. It's completely up to you! I chose to do mine using my bamboo pen and touch graphics tablet and sketchbook express *because I'm too poor for the full version*. But this could work really nicely in any media- here are some ideas-

  • acrylic paints
  • comic type thingy
  • a picture (lay out some objects or leaves in the shape of letters)
  • watercolors
  • pencil sketch
  • stickers and washi tape (like a type of collage)
  • an actual collage
and anything else you can think of, the more creative the better. Of course you could also do yours on a graphics tablet (and you'll probably do a much better job than me, still haven't quite got the hang of it!).

Um, yes thats pretty much it- I don't want this tag to have too many rules, I just think it'll be interesting to see different blogger's interpretations.

So- to start this off I tag the following people:

and anybody else who wants to do this! I'm really exited to see what people do. If you do this tag, please link me to it in the comments because I want to see your awesome artwork.

That's it basically, I really hope somebody does this otherwise it'll be pretty embarrassing.

Finally: I made a tumblr recently which is kind of stupid and messy but I'd love a follow (I seriously have like 10 followers, wow popular -_-) and that's frizzyhairandtea.tumblr.com

Pumpkin carving

Um... hello?

Yes, yes- where on earth have I been? I'd like to say I've been incredibly busy but it's more like incredibly lazy. Ideas for blog posts just haven't been coming to me so I've been watching too much youtube and listening to too much music instead. I promise it won't happen again (it probably will but I'm very sorry).

Anyway... swiftly moving on: as Halloween is fast approaching and it is literally the best holiday in existance, I needed to carve a pumpkin! And I decided to take you on this journey (?) with me. Maybe if you haven't ever carved a pumpkin (I am judging you) this could even teach you what to do.

You will need:
- A pumpkin (preferably quite large)
- A knife (sharp and small)
- A pencil/ pen to draw your design with
- A candle and a match

First you need to scoop out the insides of your pumpkin. To do this you cut off the top- a circle about the size of your hand in a claw, if that makes sense? On one part of the 'lid' you cut of add a little triangular notch. This helps you to line it up more when you put it back on the pumpkin. Next use your hands to pull out the stringy insides and seeds of the pumpkin. Make sure you have a bowl to put this into otherwise there will be a huge mess. To help you get out some off the tricky bits use your knife to pull it off the edges. It needs to be completely clean before you start to carve otherwise when you put the candles in it could catch fire which isn't good.

Next draw out the design you want onto your pumpkin. Don't feel limited to the traditional faces. You could have anything from a pikachu to a floral pattern- it's really up to you! I went for a cat face because, well, cats. Then just draw out your design onto the pumpkin in either pencil or pen. Be sure to make it fairly big so people can clearly see what it is, this'll also make it easier to carve.

Then, you just cut along the lines trying not to stab yourself. If your pattern is a bit more complicated you may want to just scrape the skin off your pumpkin and not cut all the way through creating a cool effect. This can be a bit tricky though.

Once your design has been completely carved out you can light your candle(s). If you have a bigger pumpkin you'll probably need a couple but for smaller ones one should be fine. Then just drop them in. Try not to burn yourself because that's what I always do!

When you've done all of this your pumpkin should be looking very spooky and halloween-y. Then just put it wherever you want! It's really easy to carve a pumpkin as long as your design isn't too impossible.

What are you dressing up as for halloween? What are you doing? I'd love to know so please tell me in the comments and I will definitely reply.

Finally: song of the week (/whenever I actually post), I know I haven't done one forever but I should get back into the habit:

Fox academy are literally my favourite thing at the moment, they're not the kind of stuff I normally listen to but they're amazing.

See you soon guys, thanks for bearing with me

September favourites

Hello lovelies!
I'm going to try and do a favourites post today. I love reading them on other blogs and I thought- oh well, why not? Yes, I know recently I have been trying out lots of new ideas and kind of straying from my original blog 'theme' but I've been in a mood to change things up a bit. As I am writing this I am basically making the categories up so they will probably change later in this 'monthly favourites' series.

Favourite purchase:

Eeek! Yes I did buy a pair of doc martens, finally. Technically dad bought them for me but that doesn't matter, okay? It was as a birthday present though, I don't normally get £100 boots bought for me! *I wish* They aren't as painful to break in as I thought they would be so that's all good. I ended up going for black just because they would go with pretty much everything.

Favourite music thingy (bands/songs):
Pierce the veil.......... Sleeping with sirens

Over the past month I have discovered so many new and amazing bands or just gotten more into ones I already knew of. It was so hard to chose who to put in this post! I actually have two favourite bands this month but they're both similar:

Sleeping with Sirens have a really unique sound due to the lead singer Kellin's extremely high voice. In all honestly I wasn't that sure whether I liked it at first but, um yes, I definitely do. The thing with sws is they have two very different styles of songs which they alternate between. They're what's called a post-hardcore band *see? I know stuff* which means they combine generally quite high, melodic vocals with screaming. They have songs with a fair amount of screaming and also some with literally none. There are songs to suit nearly everyones music taste pretty much.

The second band I love are Pierce the veil. They have a similar style to sws but are slightly more on the scream-y side of things I suppose. I haven't found a song of theirs that I don't love so far- but my favourites have to be Bulletproof Love and King for a Day. King for a Day is quite heavy if you don't like these kind of things but it's now one of my FAVOURITE SONGS OF ALL TIME EVER. Honestly, please check them out they are super amazing awesomeness.

Whoops that was a bit long...

Favourite youtuber:

Patty Walters. Hands down. I found his channel early on this month and have now watched pretty much all of his covers, they're that perfect. I found his via some other youtubers I watch, watched his cover of This is Gospel and basically decided that he was going to be one of my favourite youtubers. I don't even like people who cover songs that much because normally they're not that good and they have really bad taste in music but this guy does the songs justice. His cover of Bite my Tongue by ymas is his best so watch that and I'm pretty sure you will subscribe after listening to the first 10 seconds.

Favourite beauty product:

This month I bought Bobbi Brown's foundation stick. I'd heard such good things about it, including from my mum that I HAD to try it out. Even though I know nothing about make up and barely wear any. It's actually amazing! The coverage is thick enough to work but not horribly cakey. As it's a stick foundation it had the potential to dry out my skin but it doesn't at all! I can't say too much on this I'm afraid since I'm not a beauty blogger and am therefore clueless. I would just say: Highly recommend!

So that's all for today I guess, I hope you like this kind of post- please comment your opinions!!! I've just set up a blog instagram that I hope you'll like- it's kind of themed but I don't think it will be very strictly. Just pastel-y. If you want to follow me it's Flo_Jo52, same as my twitter.

Love you,
Flo Jo xx

P.S sorry for the rubbish image placement in this post. The theme I use messes up the centering a bit... >^-.-^<

Ralph Lauren @ Harrods*

Hello guys!
So here's the thing I have been freaking out over recently: I went to the launch of Ralph Lauren's childrenswear collection at Harrods! *Can I apologise beforehand if I use too many exclamation marks, I'm just very excited* Basically, I got invited up to London to check out the new range of clothes for girls aged 7-14. The look is very typical of Ralph Lauren- not in a bad way- it has quite an agricultural look to it. Some of it I did find a bit Miley Cyrus in her pre-twerking (Hannah Montana) era but the majority was really cute and I would definitely wear.

When we ((other) Flora and I) were at harrods they kindly did our hair and nails- being pampered was lovely. Next we picked out outfits from our favourite pieces of clothing in the new collection. I went for this amazing lace top that had a sweet vintage look to it, the material was very soft and stretchy and generally perfect. I also wore some skinny jodhpur-like trousers which were a soft blue colour and very me. My favourite part of the outfit was certainly a beautiful yellow cardi that had a 50s look to it. I need it in my life. Afterwards Flora and I got our pictures taken in front of a stable- themed backdrop which I will be getting the photos from soon!

Overall my opinion on these clothes is a positive one- most of them are to my taste and I could easily imagine myself buying them if I had the budget. There were a few pieces that didn't work for me such as some light denim shorts with lace edging but the majority were gorgeous. I would have to say personally that any piece I bought would have to be perfect because of the pricing of this higher-end company. On the other hand, if you are maybe more wealthy I think they also have some pretty pieces of everyday clothing.

Finally I want to give a massive thank you to the PR team at Ralph Lauren for inviting me and a friend to this launch. I had such a fun day and everyone was very lovely. I'm also chuffed with the perfume I got given- it smells SO good. *It's the Ralph Lauren number 4 perfume for women if you're wondering*

My style: Braces swag

Before you ask- yes the title is meant to be ironic.
(If that's even the correct use of the word?)

Hello, yep I'm back.
I know I've been away for a while but I hope you understand I have a life *yeah, right...* outside of this blog. Well I have stuff to do aside from blog anyway and some things have to be prioritised. Sorry. You are still my favourite people in the whole wide world though so don't worry, that will never change. I realise that my last post was a bit moany and pointless but I just had to let you know why I'd be a bit quieter than usual.

Since I've been gone some stuff has happened, nothing major or important just general boring life stuff. Like for example today I got my braces! Actually I only got the bottom ones put on today I'm getting the top ones fitted in 8 weeks (I honestly don't know why they couldn't just do it in one go but oh well).  I also went back to school last week which was... meh. school.

Moving on, after all this isn't meant to be a life update. Today I am going to be a proper blogger and all that and do a fashion post! ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ

I have to admit I know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about fashion so I can't guarantee that this is 'on trend' or whatever- it's just a cute outfit I like. And I hope you like it too!

Cardigan- new look, Top- La Redoute (similar),
Trousers- Zara (similar), Shoes- Vans (similar)

Just look at my beautiful facial expressions... I hope you liked this post- please comment so I know whether or not whether to do one in the future. This went a lot better than I thought it would- I managed to achieve some photos of myself where I'm not pulling the ugliest face possible which is always good. There is however one I shall show you just so you can see my braces....

Yes, I know I have no eyebrows.

Finally- I know I've been forgetting to do this for the last few posts- a song. This is one of my favourite all time low songs ever and it has Vic in it which makes it even better:

So, yeah,
love you guys,
Byeeeeeeeeee!

Flora and Flora \(o^.^o)/

Hi,
Today is another photo heavy post, this time they are much better quality because a) My friend took most of them and b) They're with an actual, real, good camera!

Today my best friend *another Flora o_0* and I went into town (which I shall not name due to the fact one of us lives there). We had an amazing time prancing around looking like complete hipsters- I'm talking frappuccinos, beanie hats and a certain thing which will be revealed very soon... (If you are ever on the internet this object which I speak of will be super exciting to you!) So, I'm going to stop rambling now and will get to the photos:

Other Flora bought this top from primark for only £4
We bought matching beanies ~hipster~ *sigh*

This is the exciting thing I mentioned! Baby lips by Maybelline are finally
available in the uk for only £2.99! *scream*
We both bought the cherry flavoured red tinted lip balm.
The other one's for Flora's friends b-day prezzie.
Flora bought this MUA concealer palette from superdrug to
disguise the fact she stays up all night on the internet.
This is another gift for somebody... Barry M jelly high shine
nail paint in papaya

This is how I spend the majority of my life.

Flora is genuinely like this... She was in starbucks and had to
take about five photos of her frappucino. ^^

I hope you enjoyed this post written with the help of my awesome friend Flora- aka Flo Do who has her own blog at: paintmeamoustache.blogspot.co.uk. I'd love for you to have a look since I know she will run the best blog ever!

Hello,
I'm writing on my final day of holiday on the Isle of Wight. I know I've just published a post which I will have written after this but hopefully it's not too confusing for you (because it is for me!!!). This post is just me sharing with you all the rubbish goodies I have bought on the island. *In this list I am including silly little things that I have bought like magazines and postcards*

First up: These two vintage advert postcards. I got them from the Isle of Wight steam railway- I'm cool, I know *don't judge*. I love the fact that the kitkat one includes both of my favourite things: chocolate and cats. I wish advertisers just included random cats in today's ads. Believe me, that would make the world a much happier place. I also love Vespas, they're funny little things. Not quite a motorbike... When I get back I'm going to put these up on my wall of random cute stuff ©.

Next: Glass ornaments tend to be a bit old-lady ish but this seal is really sweet. I bought it on my first day on the island from some shop in an old fort. I will probably either break it or lose it but it's lovely while it lasts.

My mum actually bought this for me so it shouldn't strictly be on this list, but it's so lovely who cares?! This sand-filled elephant is from the sand shop at Allum Bay, near the needles. In this shop you can choose a shape / animal to fill with the different coloured sands from the cliffs. None of the sands are artificially coloured which is incredible considering the spectrum of colours you get.

Just for the sake of it I bought a teen vogue to read and a *special edition (omg)* pink lemonade lucozade to drink just to fill up an afternoon. Teen vogue is one of my favourite magazines because it offers a really good insight to the fashion universe without being too 'snobby'.

Today we went into West Cowes because mum needed to pick up one of her paintings from a gallery there. Before that though we looked around some amazing shops, they were good but very expensive. In the end I only ended up buying a pink lemonade flavored lip balm (can you sense a theme?) from the BEST SHOP EVER. Seriously though, everything in there was perfect. There was every single thing for you and your home that you can even imagine. Despite it being super-duper expensive I would happily spend every single penny I ever get there.
It's called: Live like this- West Cowes, IOW. You can find them at:
www.facebook.com/LiveLikeThis
www.twitter.com/traceyshopbird
If your on the island you absoloutely have to go to West Cowes. Some of the shops are a bit weird but there are many lovely ones to outweigh the few bad ones.

I hope you liked this post- I'd really love a follow on twitter, bloglovin' and GFC if you did! I've decided I'm actually going to start using them properly now...
I love you guys!

Wifi deprived Flora

Hello guys,
I missed you so much when I was on holiday, I spent two weeks with my family in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight. The views were beautiful but I felt really isolated without any internet connection and very bad 3g- I think I was literally on the verge of a mental breakdown due to withdrawal from the internet by the last couple of days. I do so not have a problem though. Really. I promise! When I was on the island I pre-wrote a couple of blog posts that I just need to take and edit some photos for, I shall upload them asap. Today however I will just do another special *Flora bores you with her holiday photos even though she can't take photos to save her life* yay! This time I have actually made an effort to edit the photos into something vaguely interesting to look at. I hope you kind of like this more casual post.

Before you witness my astounding photography and editing skills *cough* though I'll just do a quick recount of what my main holiday activities were:
- Listening to old podcasts on my mum's phone
- Reading lifestyle magazines and being jealous of people's perfect lives
- Reading home magazines and being jealous of people's perfect lives
- Bodyboarding (albeit badly)
- Playing sims 3 Island Paradise even though I was already on an island. The irony is not wasted on me
- Watching lots of daytime TV.
As you can tell I'm an absolute joy to be on holiday with. (Seriously though, I think my family wanted to kill me by the end).

NOTE: Some of these photos were actually taken by my mum...

Shoutout to Sally, who is amazing!

Love you guys
