So I have finished my blogging challenge! I really struggled with it- I didn't feel particularly inspired when I was pressured to post. Therefore I am barely gonna write anything today. Because of the challenge I do think that I'm going to post more often- maybe not once a day though!
Thanks for supporting me

First of all, please let me apologise for not posting yesterday... I was at my school's spring concert until 9:30. Can't be helped now, though. So onto the point-

I love cocoppa!
For those of you who don't know cocoppa is an app that let's you add super cute shortcuts for apps with ugly icons. It operates on iOS- so only apple products. You can also download wallpapers and stamps from this app. When I discovered it today I gave my entire iPod 4g a makeover. It's amazing how new it seems now that it looks cool! Here are the pictures:

Okay, so I'm already struggling...

With my 7 day blogging challenge. I am seriously running out of inspiration. I don't think that you'll appreciate me just writing about nothing in particular. Because then, what's the point of you reading this.

So I promise that I will try to post about interesting stuff and be a bit more organised in getting posts lined up. Today I had my parent's evening at school and only came back at about 6. Then my friend came round for a bit so today's post I'm making up as I go along.

Here's basically what my teachers said about me at parent's evening:
Art: Apparently I'm very creative (yay)! I also try very hard and am confident in my ability, I can help out others who may be struggling.
That made me soooooo happy. Art's one of my absolute favourite subjects ever, and to be complimented on that made me really, extremely happy!
English: My analysis have really improved, at the start of the year I got a 5a for one and recently I got a 7c!!! My teacher thinks that I have the ability to do really well but I need to improve the sophistication in my writing which she thinks will come with age.
I love English, why else would I write a blog? I think that her comments were lovely.

And that's a sample of what happened at my parent's evening. I was really, really embarrassed since I can't stand people talking about me. Especially when they're saying something nice!!!

Writing to Miranda...

In school my year 6 cousin has to write a letter to a famous person. Rather than writing to the Police (yawn) or Chris Evans (?????) like some other people in her class, the girl has done me proud and chose to write to Miranda Hart. Yes, the Miranda Hart! Although it's unlikely Miranda herself will see it, it would be amazing if she does and replies!

For those of you who don't know who Miranda is: Go get a life! Sorry, but how can you not have heard of her (that was in a nice, jokey way!). She is this talented comedienne who has her self-named sit-com on BBC:
Go and watch her show now!

Sorry, I have to go and shower (darn you, hygiene!)

Gymnastics comp!

Today I took part in a gymnastics competition! I did it with my school's team, it was so much fun! It was my first gymnastics comp although I have taken part in a 'showcase' or whatever's it's called before.
It was split into these sections:

  • Under 12 groups
  • Under 14 groups
  • Under 14 pairs
  • Under 18 groups
  • Under 18 pairs
And then those categories were divided into sub sections like boys, girls and mixed. Basically it was incredibly complicated and I had no clue what was going on the majority of the time. I was in the under 14 groups section, there was 6 of us in each group. We did our routine to this:

Sadly our group didn't place so I'm not going to the nationals- they sound like so much fun *sniff*. But every other group from our school was at least in the top three, so that's really good news. I'm so proud of them!!!! My cousin's an amazing gymnast, and by that I mean Olympic standard in a few years!!! I really wish I could say I was that good, but I'm nowhere near that level!!

That's all for today,
I just had to write a post for my challenge and I can't write any more than that today!

Tolly Dolly Posh Fashion

Hey, for once I have a feeling that I may stick to the promise I set myself- I will blog at least once a day for at least a week.

Today I want to show you this really cool blog I recently discovered: Tolly Dolly Posh Fashion (Click the link, it's awesome!). It's written by a 12 year old girl, like myself who lives in the South of France but is originally from Cheltenham. Since her mum was a former handbag designer for MULBERRY (okay, so I'm a teensy bit jealous of this girl!) it's no surprise that she's interested in fashion. I love reading her opinions on the latest celeb 'looks' and what goes on in the fashion industry. I really 'get' what she's saying about individual fashion being good, Tolly is not your stereotypical fashion-obsessed weirdo who has no clue what she's talking about. This girl knows the industry and thinks that it's good to be an individual with your style. Plus, her designs are a-maz-ing! I've managed to draw one half decent fashion design freehand and I was without colour. But hers look so incredibly professional! I am super-jealous that she lives in the south of France, I'd love to emigrate there when I'm older! Just. Gorgeous.

So, I really think that you should take a look at Tolly's blog. You won't regret it!

(Oh, just to say, to show her level of amazingness: She was recently featured in the telegraph magazine along with some other child bloggers. And, I think it was this morning she appeared on BBC radio 4 talking about her views on kid's fashion week. I can only dream of reaching that level of recognition. Yet, I guess nothing will happen unless I keep working at this. Who knows? Maybe one day I'll be emailed by the BBC and be asked to appear on the radio. *Just thinking about it makes me squeel with delight!!!!*)

Review: the handmade marketplace

Today I'm going to review a book that my mum got me from a charity shop. Despite it being second hand it's condition is really good, even the name tag in the front hadn't been filled in!

This book tells you pretty much everything you need to know about selling your crafts and how to make a profit from it. It also contains opinions from lots of experts including the world-famous blogger Holly Becker of decor8! This book has information on everything from finances (yawn!) to selling on etsy.

Review: I am really impressed by the sheer amount of information in this book. Each page is filled with information. Not all of the info was particularly relevant to me (notably the taxes section) but I can see how people would find it helpful. It has advice on everything from blogging to designing a logo for your etsy store. Also I adore the illustrations in it, they are drawn by Emily Martin of the Black Apple . I think that the bottom line is: I love this book! It answers any questions that you might have about selling your crafts and also has a little section on social media.

As of today I am going to try and post once a day for a week, so this is my first one. If I'm not blogging you have every right to chivvy me into posting again.
On Sunday I have a gymnastics competition that I am competing in with my school, I am super scared. Points get deducted for every single slight mistake, and I'm probably going to be the one making them. Grace and pointy toes are not my forte.

Finally, at school we run this course for the year 7s. Its essentially all about being happier and being nicer to people. Most of my year are doing it. As this week was last session everyone said nice things about the other people. What people said about me was: I use lots of long words (I think that's good!?!), I am mature, I think about my opinions. At the end our pupil support guy who runs it drew a picture to represent everyone. He drew me as an owl because I seem very wise. I just thought I'd share it because it really made my day!

Some of my favourite things

Today I wanted to do a post about baking but since I'm at my aunt's house and can't bake here that's impossible. So then I wanted to write about something related to baking, then I thought: "hey, baking is one of my favourite things". So there you go.
Also, for some reason I love writing lists. I even have a complete book full of lists
Yes, really.

  1. Baking- the smell of it cooking, beating together the sugar and eggs. Plus, the pure amazingness of mixing ingredients into something edible!
  2. Reading- my idea of heaven is sitting in my room forever, with an unlimited supply of hot chocolate and reading. It doesn't matter what kind of book it is, I just love to read.
  3. Magazines- I have to give a special shout out to shout because they gave me lots of my readers by mentioning my blog!!! But I just love reading magazines, I'm a girl so obviously I love gossip!
  4. Writing- at the moment I'm trying to write a novel. It's been on the go for a couple of years and is constantly evolving. I love writing, anything could happen. I'm using this book to write a novel.
  5. Cats- what would the internet be without them? No, seriously they are so sweet and precious. =^.^=
  6. Books full of facts- they are wonderful and the reason my head is full of useless facts. Knowledge is a wonderful thing and even better when it's fun!
  7. Nice pens: My favourites are lovely gel pens that don't run out immediately, and good quality biros. The cheap ones are rubbish- they annoy me so much. Why yes, I am really weird.
That's all I can think of on the spot! By the way, thank you for the replies on my last post! Some more would be appreciated if possible. From my statistics I can tell lots of you are reading my blog. So if you all comment on this post I would scream with joy! Cheers,

Some Questions

Today I'm going to encourage you to do some 'audience participation' so to speak (wow that sounded posh!!!). These are some questions I have, they don't require facts as answers- just you opinion! Please leave you replies in the comments.

  1. Do any of you know anyone who offers online courses in blog design or does blog makeovers for a reasonable price? I would really like to give my blog a complete overhaul but don't know where to start. Tips would be appreciated!!!
  2. Are shetland sheepdogs good pets? It will be a really strange coincidence if any of my readers actually own a sheltie! My mum won't let me get a dog for a good while yet but I have my heart set on this breed. I know lots of info about them but I need to hear someone's opinion.
  3. Does anyone here know anything about SEO? If you don't know what that means I'll assume you can't help me...
Please reply. That made me sound desperate. Ouch.

P.S I had a really nerdy moment today when I was doing history homework whilst listening to trock (timelord rock!!!) Chameleon Circuit are awesome!

Tuesday, 5 March 2013

On Sunday I got a comment on my previous post that really made my day.

"Hey Flo Jo I really like your blog and I read it a lot. It's similar to what I do and it's you that inspired me to get blogging... so thanks! I especially liked your butterfly cakes post.

will you have a look at my blog? It doesn't get many views and has no comments. I don't think it's anywhere near as good as your blog but it's still fun to do :)"

Something like that is just what you need to make you smile. It's wonderful to think that at least one person looks up to my blog, that's what I was aiming for when I started to blog a couple of years ago. Now that it's finally happening it feels a bit surreal. I am the one who gets jealous of other peoples blogs (in a good way) not the other way round. This may seem like a bit of an overreaction but when someone praises you for something you've done and you know they are completely unbiased because you don't know them. They are judging you purely on what you write and to be honest I like being judged on that. Sitting in front of a computer writing I am a lot more witty and open than I am socialising in real life with some people. I've just re-read that sentance and it makes me sound like a complete loner but it's true!!!
