Makeup looks || Inspired by Monster High*

Hey!

~Before I begin this post I want to point out that I am in no way whatsoever good at makeup, so maybe take this post as more of a 'guideline' than an actual tutorial on how to do your makeup. If you want to apply makeup well, don't do it like me! (and have a look around on Youtube)~

Today I'm going to show you some cool makeup looks inspired by the new Monster High movie: Frights, Camera, Action (which is now available on DVD- you can order it from amazon here)! Hopefully you can try to recreate some of these looks at home, they're very simple and I use extremely cheap makeup- it doesn't even need to be a specific brand- find anything you can from magazines, steal from your mum's room (please don't), use pound shop stuff. Honestly, anything.

So, first of all: here's the makeup I use throughout these looks (kind of sorted into categories for each of the monsters, but I mixed it up a bit.

from left corner, clockwise: makeup palette (general), Lagoona's makeup, Draculaura's makeup, Ellisabat's makeup, and general base makeup.

Lagoona Blue
*click here to view her on the monster high website*
I'm going to admit to being slightly in love with this monster- having still not grown out of my 'I wanna be a mermaid' phase, which I entered at the age of six. With the makeup I had I couldn't quite capture the brightness (especially on some of the eye makeup) of her look, but I hope you get the idea.
yes, I just have a dried starfish randomly in my room (??)

For this look- first of all, (this applies to all the tutorials) you want to get a fully even covering. This may mean that you need to use more "base" makeup than you usually would, also if you feel like it- filling in your eyebrows might be a good idea. Especially if you're blonde and they're non existent as mine are, though as a general rule DON'T OVERDO IT. Nothing is worse than unnaturally painted on eyebrows (unless you're an expert and know what you're doing, unlike me).

Next, you essentially paint on eyeshadow colours in stripes. You want to start with the palest colour, in this case a coral-y pink, then a bright orange, and finally a darker purple. If you can, try to flick the purple out at the corner, by angling your eyeshadow brush.

For the eyeliner, I just used a cheap £1 Primark pencil... This may seem like a really weird trick but the only difference between quality and cheaper eyeliner pencils is that the cheap ones tend to be harder, therefore more uncomfortable to use. But you can easily fix this problem by breathing on the tip for 20 seconds (ish) and it's now soft and perfect! Trust me on this. I simply drew a line across the top lid and the outer edge of my lower waterline.

Then use any mascara you want to.

Finally I used a lipstick crayon to fully fill in my lips, then used a brown eyeliner to draw on some of Lagoona's distinctive freckles (this is totally optional but I've always wanted freckles anyway, and I thought it looked adorable).

Elissabat
*click here to view her on the monster high website*
This is quite a heavy look, that I don't think suits me all that much- but if you can carry it off good for you friend!

That last one... so totes 3mo

If you're not a vampire princess purple lipstick is quite a task to carry of without looking like you've walked out of a 2005 music video, but it's an interesting look. And I think it looks quite like Elissabat...

First of all I put a white coat of eyeshadow, all the way up to my eyebrow, and a thin layer under my eye. Next I used a dark purple to draw a thin line across my upper lid, I also bought it around the corners of my eye.

Next I used an eyeliner pen to draw across my lid and add big flicks at the sides (the bigger the better, just make sure that it's even). I also went across the bottom a little bit and drew on two eyelashes in the lower corner (think '60s).

Finally I added the darkest lipstick I could find (apart from black, because, please never do that), which was a deep purple colour, which I mixed with a little red.

30 question tag!

I actually got tagged in this a couple of months ago, but really wanted to do it, and 'ey- better late than never, right?
___

Rules :
1. Answer all 30 questions.
2. Tag 10-15 other bloggers when you’re done.
3. Please do not remove my name when copying and pasting the question.

Questions :
Created by Elaine Sabine (http://www.tropicaldarling.blogspot.com)

What are you wearing today?
A tie- dye blue t-shirt (made by a very talented friend), and normal denim skinny jeans. I'm also wearing an old theatre hoodie like a blanket, wrapped around myself. The wonderful style of a teen lifestyle blogger is very high-class, you see.

What are you listening to right now?
Seventy times 7 by Brand New.

Do you like the beach?

I don't like the really busy ones that you usually see when you're in really popular holiday places, to be honest I prefer the stoney ones around where I live. I just love the wind, it's always super refreshing...

What’s something you really want right now?

At the moment I don't really have a want for anything particular. Though, at this precise second, more coffee sounds good.

Who was the last person you added to your contacts?
It was either my friend Tabitha, or Christiana.

Do you have any piercings?

One on each ear, but I want to get a second one on one of my ears, and perhaps something else when I'm older.

What are your favorite stores?
The majority of my clothes are from new look, so I'm going to have to go with that one. Also, as you may know, I love stationary and other little quirky things so a local shop called the Hambledon is like heaven. *though sadly I can't afford any of the gorgeous clothes from there*

Favorite nail polish brand?
I don't have any particular preferences- however my favourite nail polish is 'Nailwear pro' in sea breeze which is done by Avon.

Ever failed a test?
I've never taken a test which was possible to 'fail' as such. However, recently I got roughly 48% in a maths exam which isn't too great- oops. Also I'm pretty certain I'm completely failing French, it just doesn't really click in my head.

Do you prefer shorts or skirts?
It really depends on what mood I'm in- one of my go to outfits is a baggy top tucked into a skater skirt, with tights and doc martens. But in the summer I literally live in shorts.

Favorite social media?
Tumblr, though it has ruined any productivity I previously possessed. *self- promo time, you can follow me @ fakeurdeath.tumblr.com*

Do you play any sports?

Does gymnastics count as 'playing' sports? I really don't know... but at the moment that's all I do, though I should probably take up something else as well.

Long or short hair?

On me, long hair, I can hide behind it aha. But if I had the right bone structure (aka that of a supermodel) I would love a sort of boy-style pixie cut since they are hecking adorable!

Favorite quote?
I choose not to have one, due to Marina's wise words: 'millions of girls float on their one quote, living on their last hope' (I know choosing this kind of defeats the purpose of the lyric but y'know what I mean). Essentially, I'd rather not be limited in what I do because of having some sort of ideology for what life should be. *Woah that sounded deeper than intended*

What color is your room?
The walls are a really light blue-green-white colour, with a white ceiling, and the wall by my bed is white with lilac deer print on (sorry, it's hard to explain).

Are you outgoing or shy?
I'd say I'm shy, but am also extemely (some may say annoyingly) opinionated, it really depends on how comfortable I am in the situation.

What was the last text message you sent?

It was something along the lines of apoligising for not replying earlier... as most of my texts are.

Have you ever won a competition?
I used to win raffles a lot for some reason. Though I believe the only thing I've won through a proper 'competition' as such was a subscription the Cbeebies magazine when I was about 5/6.

How many pillows do you sleep with?
Two, along with tons of cushions on my bed.

Who was the first person you talked to today?
My mum?

How many hoodies do you have?
Two, though I only wear one of them- I need MORE.

What should you be doing?
Nothing urgently, possibly doing my maths homework but I am not in the mood for working out how negative indices work (???)

Can you keep your shoes clean?
Considering I only ever wear three pairs of shoes (one of them being for school) I try to keep them not looking awful. Though I don't mind that much.

If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
Beyoncé (I really don't know, but what else did you expect?)

Do you prefer dark, milk, or white chocolate?
ALL. Just, chocolate, man.

Open a book closest to you and turn to page 13. What does the first line say on that page?
"I sat on the lower bunk while Mom opened the trunk, grabbed a stack of biographies my dad had agreed to part with and placed them on the bookshelves"

Do you still watch Disney?

Sadly, we got rid of sky when I was 11, thus ending my childhood. Children's show wise though, I still watch adventure time religiously.

What do you usually eat for breakfast?
Cereal for life.

Do you have any pets?

I have two cats, and a very big, fluffy rabbit.

What’s your favorite holiday?
Halloween, maybe? Basically pumpkin soup is the best food to exist and Halloween's the only time it tends to be around.

Cake pops

Hey!
First of all, before I begin this post, I want to say a massive thank you to all of you for giving me 10,000 page views. That is completely insane- like, that seems quite a large number for me, and I'm really happy.

 ~

So, recently, my mum bought a cake pop maker. Which is just as great as it sounds. Considering, when we've tried to make cake pops in the past, they failed massively and just turned into a squidgy mess- this is easily one of the best things ever. Essentially, all you do is make a normal cake mix and pour it into the machine, leave it for a couple of seconds... then VOILA! Cakes in cute 'lil circles, ready to be decorated with icing and sprinkles and marshmallows and wow!

As you can tell, it's all very exiting... Anyway, I thought I would share some pictures of what we (my friend Flora- yes another one- and I) made:

*wow Flora you actually took photos, gold star for you*

Using this method cake pops are very easy to make, and are absolutely delicious- the only real downside is that it's likely that you'll end up eating about ten which probably isn't all to healthy. But OH WELL.

I know this post is kind of frivolous compared to the last, but lets face it- sometimes you just need pretty  pictures of food. I know I do. Soon I hope to get back to the more regular posting pattern I had roughly a year ago, but school, though I am trying to figure out some sort of balance.

And finally, as always- the song of the post:
The Brobecks! Basically, as you probably know I have a slight obsession with panic! at the disco, but for some reason I only recently got around to looking at their current bassist- Dallon Weeke's-  previous band, and yeah here they are. I'm slightly in love with all of their songs, and ahh yes I love music, music is great.

C'ya, thanks for putting up with me
